Drennan Acolyte Pro Carp 13m Base Pole (without top kits)

The new Acolyte Pro Carp has arrived ! The original Acolyte Carp was a truly excellent piece of kit and appreciated all over Europe. But the new ‘Pro’ version is another level up.

Again, a purpose built pole for carp and commercial fisheries, this state-of-the-art pole has also been designed in conjunction with five times World Champion, Alan Scotthorne. In fact Alan lent his 1^st prototype to his son Oliver for some ‘serious’ summer bagging and couldn’t get it back. So we built him another !

Built on the same high-spec mandrel as the Acolyte Pro but utlising different carbons and resins to make an even more durable pole with increased section strength. Although we would never claim any pole to be indestructible the Acolyte Pro Carp is extremely strong and powerful and easily capable of withstanding the rigours of repeatedly catching bags of hard-fighting carp. 

At the same time this new Acolyte Pro Carp is lighter than the original, (noticeably) better balanced and more responsive - especially at the longer 14.5 and 16m lengths. Despite its strength advantage over the Acolyte Pro the Acolyte Pro Carp remains stiff enough to react to bites quickly and performs exceptionally well, even with a pole-mounted pot on the end and a short line between the pole tip and float. It has a noticeably quicker reaction when compared to the original Acolyte Carp.

The main sections from the butts back up to the No5 are built on new mandrels and so different to the original but, importantly, the No 4 and No 3 sections are the same size – albeit in different materials – and so interchangeable with the original. All male & female joints are reinforced to help reduce wear and prolong pole life.

All of the new Acolyte Pro Carp kits now use a new No1 & No2 configuration with a larger 4.7mm internal diameter tip section. This means every kit is ready to fish without any cutting back at all with elastics right up to and including our own Red Bungee. It is supplied with a variety of extra ‘East-Fit’ pure PTFE Bungee bushes which all fit into the same 4.7mm uncut top section. However, each has its own internal hole size perfectly matched to the relevant sized Bungee with each identified by a small coloured collar matching the Bungee. Internal bush diameters are:

2.0mm Aqua, 2.3mm Green, 2.6mm Yellow, 3.2mm Pink, 3.5mm Red. 

Each PTFE bush has a series of tiny ‘crush ribs at the end which means that they will simply push-fit very securely without any need for glue. Therefore you can keep your top kits all at the same length no matter what diameter of elastic is used. 

Along with a selection of Skid Bungs, EVA nose cones, pole pot, sets of different sized colour coded PTFE bushes, each top kit again comes with factory fitted Side Pull Slots and Drennan’s Roller Cone accessories! 

The white ‘Side Pull Slots’ are made from a super-slick PTFE material. Their elongated shape is designed to soften the angle of pull and works more efficiently than a simple round hole. When the optional Roller Cone system is fitted, this improves the performance of the PTFE slot even further. 

The clever Roller Cone device has been designed and engineered to the highest standards. The cone itself is moulded to fit neatly up against the Side Pull Slot for perfect alignment and to maintain its secure position inside the pole section. Its roller wheel is machined so it has an ultra smooth surface and is mounted on a miniature stainless steel spindle, which has again been machined in the Drennan engineering workshops. The end result is a quality of build that is ultra smooth and trouble free! 

The pole is available in three lengths: 13.0, 14.5 and 16.0m and with an exceptional spares package, including a total of six Carp Top 2s, an extra-rigid Cupping Top 2 and a pair of reversible mini extensions which fit the No5 section back to the 16m butt section. Each top kit is factory fitted with our unique Side Pull system as standard. Extra top kit packages and any extra spares can easily arranged with your tackle dealer.

De nieuwe Acolyte Pro Carp is er! De originele Acolyte Carp is een fantastische hengel en gewaardeerd in heel Europa, deze “Pro” versie is echter weer een stap verder. Een hengel gemaakt voor het vangen van karper en commercial fisheries. Deze state-of-the-art vaste stok is ontworpen in samenwerking met vijfvoudig wereldkampioen Alan Scotthorne.

De Acolyte Pro Carp is verder lichter dan de originele Acolyte Carp, aanmerkelijk beter in balans en reageert sneller, zeker op de 14,5 en 16 meter lengtes. Ondanks dat de Acolyte Pro Carp sterker is dan de Acolyte Pro, is de Acolyte Pro Carp strak genoeg om snel op aanbeten te reageren en vist deze hengel exeptioneel goed, zelfs met een cupje op de top en een korte lijn tussen dobber en hengeltop. Deze hengel is aanmerkelijk sneller in vergelijking met de orginele Acolyte Carp.

De delen 5 tot en met het 16 meter deel zijn gemaakt op een nieuwe mal en verschillen in diameter van de delen van de Acolyte Carp hengel. De Acolyte Pro Margin Base Pole is strak, licht in gewicht, super sterk en perfect voor grote, hard vechtende commercial karpers!

The Acolyte Pro Margin Carp is gemaakt op dezelfde mal als de Acolyte Pro Carp pole, maar is zelfs nog sterker. Dat houdt in dat de topkits (niet individuele delen 1 en 2) en de delen drie tot en met zeven uitwisselbaar zijn tussen deze verschillende hengels. Dit is zeer gewenst wanneer een nog sterkere hengel noodzakelijk is voor marginvisserij op heel grote vissen of bij veel obstakels. De Acolyte Pro Margin Carp kan ook prima dienen als extra hengel.

Net zoals bij de andere Acolyte poles zijn de sluitingen versterkt aan beide zijden wat slijtage vermindert en de levensduur van de hengel verlengt.

Drennan Acolyte Pro Margin 9.5m Standard Pole Package

The Acolyte Pro Margin Carp is built on the same mandrel as the Acolyte Pro Carp pole, but is even stronger. That means the top kits (not individual sections 1 & 2) and sections three to seven can potentially interchange between these two poles. This is very useful if you need an even stronger pole for heavy duty margin fishing or simply want a spare or ‘back-up’ pole at significantly reduced cost. As with the other Acolyte poles the male & female joints are reinforced to help reduce wear and prolong pole life.
 

This seven-section pole complete with reversible mini extension is 9.5m straight from the bag and needs no cutting back to accept our largest 5.4m internal PTFE bushes which come supplied. It is ideal when used in conjunction with thick, hollow elastic such as our popular pink 14-16, red 18-20 and Orange 20+ Carp Bungee.
 

The special Margin Kits supplied measure 2.33m and are designed to be shorter than the 2.89m kits supplied with the other Acolyte poles, as we believe it is the optimum length for more demanding, close-range work. Having a shorter length of elastic offers you much more control over a big fish, which can be really important when tackling snaggy swims. Usefully these Margin kits are the same length as the Double Two carp kits from the Acolyte pole range when the lower D2 part is removed providing even more versatility.
 

In the standard package one of the Margin Kits comes with the special Ghost Tip which have been specially treated with a light grey paint finish. This has been designed for ultra wary fish that could potentially be spooked by a dark carbon pole tip waving over their heads especially in very shallow margins.
 

The standard package comes with a total of three Kits (one in the pole and two spare) but, as with all Drennan poles, you can tailor this to your own requirements. Just ask your Drennan stockist for your mix of kits & sections.
 

Each kit comes with our own unique factory-fitted Side Pull Slots as standard and is also supplied with Roller Cones for unrivalled, super-smooth elastic performance.

Designed for speed fishing on a long line to hand, the Whip weighs just 410 grams but is strong and durable with a rigid yet forgiving action.  Perfect for bagging up on Roach, Dace, Bleak, etc.

The Whip comes with: Reinforced Joints, Numbered Sections, PTFE Bush and Bungs and Dacron Connectors.  Additional spare top 2s are available.

Drennan Acolyte Pro Whip 6m Pole

The Acolyte Pro Whip 800 is designed for speed fishing and long line to hand when bagging roach, dace and bleak on venues such as the River Wye, Thames, Trent etc...

The whip is approximately 265g and yet ultra strong. The whip comes as standard with a solid flick tip, but it also comes supplied with a PTFE bush, two types of PTFE plugs and PTFE bead to allow you to elasticate the number two section.

Each section is numbered to allow the angler to know how long they are fishing and all of the joints are reinforced for extra durability and strength.
